Each movement of Barn Dances takes its title from the name of a particular dance step used in cowboy dances. Libby Larsen used the name of each step as a point of departure for a flight of fancy.
Varsouvianna, the third movement, is subtitled, "a simple dream waltz," which I'm sure you will agree is a perfect description once you hear it.
Erin Finkelstein plays clarinet and Kirsten Smith plays piano in this performance.
